A Card from my Mother

My Mother who lives in South Africa, has just recently taken to card making with a little help from me.  When she came over for a holiday she brought me this birthday card which she made herself. I had explained over the phone how she could make the flowers from a stash that I had left with her when I visited her a few years ago, so I am so proud of her with this card, its really her first card she has ever made me... I have sent her back with so much craft stash and also all of the stash I won on Creations by Gills blog a while ago and she is just going craft made. She has learnt a lot while over here and up is the only way she is going. Look forward to more cards handmade by my Mum!

My RAK card received.

I am sorry for being so long in putting these cards onto my blog. No excuses just never put my card up, so today is the day. (Becky,Karey and Margaret, please forgive me).

My April card was from Becky and its such a lovely card and I just loved the information inside explaining what everything on the card stood for. Thank you Becky.http://creationsbygillm.blogspot.com/2011/04/rak-card-swap-club-is-now-underway.html

My May card was from Karey - a lovely all pink card with butterflies that have double wings and stick up - love it ~ thank you and yes I am enjoying being part of the RAK club.http://creationsbygillm.blogspot.com/2011/05/rak-card-swap-club-for-may-is-underway.html

My June card arrived  and what another lovely card from Margaret with a lovely message about herself and who has not been making card for very long. Margaret this card is very nicely made and just love the glitter on the poppies. Thank you. In answer to your question about my hobbies, well if its out there, I want to try it so I have had my hand at many things including needlework, knitting, and other wool/yarn crafts, papercraft, cooking, jewllery making (not very good yet) mad about gardening and love my doggies. So I could keep myself very broke and busy with all these things. (hahaha) http://creationsbygillm.blogspot.com/2011/06/rak-club-card-swap-for-june.html

Oh what a week

Hi Everyone, Well what a week, I have my Parents visiting and we are travelling around the UK visiting Family, unfortunately 4 days into this holiday my Father had a stroke, which gave my Mother and I a big fright, it was not immediately evident that he was having a stroke, all these TV adverts dont really give you  all the help as his face was not that effected. The stroke affected the speech part of his brain and the right side of his body. Being in a strange place I have to praise the holiday cottage that I am staying in ( It takes up to 2 dogs) had a file with all the important information that you would need including the full address of the place. I phone 999 and got such good response and the Ambulance folk were excellent. The Dorsett County Hospital were also exellent and with them having to use travel insurance as they do not live here, that went through without any problem. Thankfully he is a very determined person, he could not talk at all on Monday night when it happened and by the next day was able to talk some, his right hand and leg are not completely 100%, his writing is not too good and he cant sign his signature, which seems to irritate him and he is always trying to sign....Thankfully he is now out of hospital, but our holiday is really not going to be as we want, we are off again on our travels tomorrow, and as I am the only one driving will have to consider stopping to make sure he gets a bit of a rest from the car and my little dogs have a walk. We are constantly on edge now looking for anything that may go wrong, also he is not allowed to stress etc so my Mother is fussing all the time. It will be nice to get back to my own place and be on my own with my craft and my life. I was unable to bring craft with me due to space limits.

So I will not be submitting much for the next week or so.

I hope you all had a good day today watching Kate and Will marry, weren't they sweet

Card # 3

Another Oh la la image from some printed images that I did from the CD. I have glittered the roses on the topper and used a pearlised grey card and dark red ribbon with some paper rose buds. The inside has a insert with the same image.

Thats all for tonight, its back to the knitting. Thanks for stopping by.

Card # 2

This little card is a 6x6 card, using the images from the Shoes Oh la la CD, the other items are from my craft stash.

Thursday 14th April card one

Hi Everyone,

I have been busy doing sample knitting which needed to be done quickly and at the same time I have been trying to do some card making. I have made a few cards over the  last few days, one if for Gills RAK club and the others are "spares"

This is the RAK club card, I did a bit of distressing on the topper and backing papers, used some paper flowers which I punched out from one of my Martha Stewart punches and some butchers twine wrapped round my topper, which is a Thomas Kinkade London painting from the DVD from Joanna Sheen. I used Sepia glossy accents on parts of the topper.

Tartan blog hop

Hi There,

If you are taking part in the hop then you are at the right place if you have just come across this posting while browsing around in blog land then feel free to hop along.

If you have arrived here from www.scrapanddash.com   then you are on the right track but if not then you need to go and start at the beginning  http://creationsbygillm.blogspot.com/

This is a hop with a difference as along the hop there are  letters to find in the postings - not all blogs have the letters but if you gather all the letters then at the end of the hop assemble them to create a scottish themed word. If you then return to Gill  http://creationsbygillm.blogspot.com/ and enter the Mr Linky at the bottom of the post (do not reveal the secret  word yet). After the hop Gill will contact someone at random and ask them to email her with the word - if correct they win some lovely candy.

Now on to my project  - I have created one project for this hop.

"A Cornish heritage card"

The centre of the painted daisy flowers are made from flowersoft and the flowers are Sheena paint fusion stamps. The background paper are printed boats, the writing is a letraset rub on alphabet sheet. The paper flowers and tag on the bottom corner were made up from a die and using my cuttlebug and a brad to secure them all together. Ribbon was from my craft stash as was the card that the Cornish Heritage wording is on.

So there we have it – my first blog hop entry – hope you like it and I'd appreciate it if you could leave me a comment. If you do like what you see and wanna see more then I'd love it if you would become one of my ever growing list of followers.

Now back to the hop - I can  now reveal my hidden blog hop letter is H remember to collect all the letters from the hop and assemble to form a scottish word then return to Gill's blog at the end of the hop and enter the Mr linky (not revealing the word) for your chance to win candy.

Thank you for stopping by.

Last post for tonight, a less is more get well soon card

Can't believe that I have posted 3 cards today! This one is a "less is more" kind of card, its a NSR print which I have coloured with very light promarkers, using the same sort of method as Sheena did her daisy paintings,(two colours on the petals) , simple but sometimes thats all that is needed... no fuss.

I used some fancy cut scissors to cut round the print, and the messages is from my hand held Xyron printer.

A little puppy waiting at the window.......aaahhh

This card has been made with one of Joanna Sheen's CDs, I printed this out ages ago as when you see all the lovely pictures on the CDs you just want them all, and after cleaning up my craft area I have put these altogether and have promised myself to make them up before printing new ones out, so have load to make of different pictures.

I have used backing papers from different papers sets, but the actual card was printed from the same CD as the topper. The  ribbon flowers, butterfly lace and lace leaves are from my sewing stash... which seems to been used more in my paper crafts than actual sewing.....

I did not put any greeting on yet as I have not decided what to use.... so I suppose it will be left unfinished until it is needed.

A little notelet card

Hi Everyone,

I have spent the day doing crafts and amongst some of the cards is this little notelet card that I did, its from a NSR print which I coloured with promarkers and then added some faux gems to the centres and also on each corner of the card, a thin yellow ribbon to complete.
