It's been a hard week and help is in need....

Hi Everyone,

Well its been a hard week this past week, a very good friend of mine lost her husband on Tuesday to a brain tumour, so much sadness, he had lung cancer 3 years before but after the op and the treatments, he was clear for 3 years, then all of a sudden he started to withdraw from life, so my friend, Anita took him to the Doctor. They started with a cat-scan and found this secondary brain tumour which was an aggressive one, that was on the 2nd August this year and just over a month he lost his batter with Cancer. So having lost my dear Uncle only last month and now this friend of 7years (his wife and I used to work together and give each other lifts to work), I will be saying goodbye at this funeral on Thursday. So another sympathy card to make! I have also told my friend that I will make her some thank you cards to send out to everyone who has visited, sent cards and flowers and travelled half way round the world to attend his funeral. He had so many friends and family, I am sure that Anita and her children will be well looked after. I think its the hardest thing, losing your partner.

So I am busy making cards and hope to put some on my blog once I have finished them. If anyone has any ideas of simple thank you cards and words that relate to this topic I would be grateful if you would let me know  in my comments, it would be a great help.

Better sign off and get to sleep, another day tomorrow to finish some cards and then its back to work on Monday. I don't seem to have much time during the week as I am sure we all suffer from.

Happy crafting and enjoy what is left of your weekend.

Monday's card

Hi Everyone,
Well, with this wind outside, I am pleased to be indoors now! I have a card for you tonight that has the image from a 3D sheet from Johanna Sheen, Card blank and other papers/card from my stash, flowers from WOC and the dragonfly charm from Harrogate show and of course the saying stamp is Lilly of the Valley stamps that I bought at the GNPE over the weekend.

I have made this a tent card, its a nice weight and hope you like it as much as I have enjoyed making it.

Enjoy you evening and stay safe from the damage that this wind can do.

A visit to GNPE Harrogate

Hi Everyone,
Well, this week has been very busy at work, actually, the last month has been busy! Anyhow, I forgot all about the GNPE this weekend, only last night saw something on a blog referring to it, so this morning did my normal chores and then made a bee line to the Show. What a buzz! I went first to LOTV stands, I wanted to see Bev Rochester, but I could not see her anywhere, so went ahead and bought my first LOTV Stamps and die cut images, I have seen Bev use them and show them on her Blog, wow they are lovely and so many to choose from! I must have been there for at least 30 minutes at the stamp section, I ended up blowing half my budget on LOTV, 10 stamps and 12 die cut images, its so hard to get a good idea with everyone taking photos of the samples and also trying to shop, I have heard of Road Rage, wonder if there is such a thing as Craft Show rage!!! I went round the show and saw Sheena busy beavering away, then stopped at Anna Marie's stand and had a chat with her, such a nice Lady, got stash from her.... then stopped at Flowersoft and chatted to Noreen,  thanked her for such lovely TV shows, and such a great product and also the wine CD which always goes down a treat! Oh yes also stopped at Pokadoodles stall, just so busy did not get to say hello there. I got some lovely fine glitter from a sea of colours and soooo much glitter, I could not resist. And lastly got myself some tartan ribbon for my own Christmas cards, I have always tried to have a bit of tartan around at Christmas, years ago I had a large amount to tartan gift warp, and ribbon, even down to the coffee cups ... red tartan! really should be using the Cornish yellow (nevermind) The only downer was trying to get through that traffic light at the end of the road coming out of the Show grounds - enough to give you road rage!!!

So I hope to do some crafting tomorrow with the strong winds outside, I will have to stay in and craft!

Thank you for reading my blog
Have a great weekend and happy crafting

Labor of Love Halloween Blog Hop - 2nd - 4th September 2011

This fabulous hop is to help  the kids at Pediatric Specialty Care in Bucks County, PA USA.  Thanks to all that are participating and a bigger thank you to Funky cards for organising this great hop. Please take your time to go through the hop and see all the fantastic banners that everyone have made and also posted to Funky Cards to take to the Hospital to hang up in the ward. These kids are going to be so over the moon, and excited to have all these banners around putting smiles on their faces is what its all about.
These are the pictures of my banner and a card that I made with the Serif Card Maker computer programme, some glitter, brads and hours of cutting out applies and pumpkins, but it was all fun. I use metal rings so that this banner can be used over and over without the cards coming apart.

My Card also made on Serif Craft Artist.

Here is the line up of  which blogs are participating, please visit them and 'm sure that everyone would love to read your comments.

You can link a card to the blog below so the kids can each get a card and the hoppers can be

eligible  for one of the sponsor's prizes for doing this. Here is the link to the blog

Cards made by my Mother...

Hi everyone,

Some time ago I showed you cards that my Mother had made, and she has sent me some more cards to show you. My Mother is in her early 70's and really only been crafting on and off for a few months, she does not have much time to sit and craft, with looking after my Father, working half day, doing the housework and general running around, who can blame her. Whilst she was visiting me in April/May I showed her very quickly a few things like embossing with the heat gun, which she had purchased and some of my embossing powder which she took home with her. I have noticed on one of these cards that I will put up she has used gold emobssing powder in a Happy Birthday stamp which has not come out perfectly but has a different effect, still good enough for the card, I was really pleased when I saw that because I showed her in a rush, she tried it and then we rushed off back to their B&B. With the help from Nancy Watt and Making cards magazine she has learnt so much and as soon as she arrived here in the UK in March next year I will give you a subscription for that magazine so that she can carry on learning from it. I also sent her home with a craft candy that I won from Gill at Creations by Gill m, Gill if you see this post I am sure you will notice some of the items in that candy stash that she has used. Also I think she is doing some designing herself, as the card with Martin on has a fancy envelope with it.

Mom when you come on my blog to see whats going on, I want you to know that I am very proud of your achievement and that you have the energy to do this and cant wait for you to live closer so that we craft together.

This card was a thank you card made from a card pack she got from C&C and only uses it for Best!!!!
This 21st Card was made for her oldest Grandson who turned 21 in August, I just hope that he really appreciates it and does not just throw it in the bin once he has read it.... as boys do! this card is really beautiful and for only crafting for such a short time - love it. (Can you see the gold embossing on the greeting?)

It would be great if you could leave your comment of encouragement for my Mother (Joan) and maybe next year she will have her own blog! who knows!
Thanks for looking.

my Sympathy cards

Hi Everyone,

Well what a week, really busy at work and with not much time to craft at night, I have managed to make these cards - With my Uncle passing away on the 9th, these cards seemed to be the right ones to make.

With this card, I used a blank card with a fancy border in white, I decided that at these sad times, it would be nice to make a fresh looking card, I had some of Anna Griffin 3D roses and little 3D flowers and with the help of The  My Craft Studio cds that I have, I looked through to find the tag. I used a wide cream ribbon to blend in with the flowers, did not want to have white as it would have just blended in with the white card. I then finished the card off with a very small clear gem as the eye of the dove on the tag. I was really pleased with the outcome of this card as I think everyone secretly likes flowers, and I know that my Uncle loved roses, so that is why I have put roses on this card.  Simply words inside the card finishes it off.

This blue card was a A4 sheet of white card folded in half, I used a 12X12 sheet of blue paper, from my "only special use stock"... I am sure we all have them, and then again printed off some images from My craft Studio cds, then matted the image onto some white card and then onto the blue base card, I used some tiny red rose buds bound in a lovely silk blue ribbon and used gel glue to keep it in place. Again I decided to use red instead of white roses as I did not want my cards to be morbid.
A close up of the cross and the rosebuds.

Well folks thats my bit for now, will be busy playing with my paints and fusion this weekend and also I have found a clouds stamp in a sale last weekend and really cant wait to play with it, but just have not had a minute.
Happy crafting everyone.

Now have to catch up on all the blog news that I have missed out, and have some cards to add to my blog! so watch this space over the next few days.

Received some sad news

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry for not being so active on my blog lately, but have just started a new job, so getting home and rushing around, not had much time to do any crafting. I have also had some sad news, my Uncle who was 79 passed away on the night of the 9th Aug 11pm,  having lost his battle to bone cancer, so sad, he was such a jolly person and lived his live to the full. Unfortunately due to me having a new job I am unable to travel down to Southampton to be with my Aunt and my Cousin and her family. I know it is something that we all prepare ourselves for but when this actually happens it is a bit of a shock, yesterday I kinda went round in a bubble if that makes scene. I am thankful that my Father had the chance to see him when he was over in the UK on holiday in April (on the same day he had his stroke, which he is recovering well from) and was able to say his goodbyes then.

I will be back on my blog over the weekend  as I will need to make cards for all my Uncles family, and siblings  who live in the UK.

Anyway must dash as have to get myself off to work. Enjoy your day wherever you are and happy crafting.

VINTAGE LADIES CELEBRATING AT THE BEACH

Hi Everyone,

Here is my card for the Vintage Beach theme. Please check out http://vintageheartfeltdesigns.blogspot.com/ for more lovely cards and other designers to check out.

Unfortunately I did not have any Vintage Ladies to put on my card so decided to go with a place where if I did have a vintage lady she would love to go. This beach scene has been highlighted with flowersoft and glitter to bring a 3D effect to the image, shells have been added giving a further 3D effect. I used brown corrugated card to back the image and a nice bright yellow for the background.

Thanks you for visiting my blog and hope you all have a crafty day!
